It’s been some time between updates on our short film ‘My Imaginary Friend’, but we’re pleased to say that we’ve scheduled to film the final scene in only a couple of weeks.

We’ve had much to do in order to get the scene prepared. We required a hospital location for the scene, but access to such a place was difficult, so we decided to go ahead and build the whole set in 1/10th scale miniature.

Because this film will be an animation once it’s finished, we have some freedom in the way that we can develop and composite such shots. Up to now, everything has been shot on location, and in the perfect world, we would have shot this in a real hospital. It has made for some fun and creative discoveries however. We have been able to utilise this little set for not just backgrounds, but as a really creative tool in developing storyboards and blocking actors.DSCN1099

In the end, it might be a little overkill for what’s ultimately going to be hand drawn backgrounds, but it’s fuelled some ideas for future projects also.

Stay tuned for more updates very soon!
