My Imaginary Friend – Update

Well, this is a long overdue update to our long gestating short film, My Imaginary Friend.
It’s somewhat scary to know that we first begun filming for this production back in August of 2015! That’s two years already…
The reality is though, Skybird Entertainment is an independent venture, consisting of just two people, Dean Woodward and myself, Chris McKee. As is the case for many independent filmmakers, we all have unrelated day jobs, families, relationships and a whole assortment of other commitments and obstacles in our lives, so until the day comes that we can turn this hobby into a career, it often finds itself taking a reluctant back seat. This short film in particular, a highly ambitious project, requires even more time than usual.
That being said, however, I’m very pleased to say that we have completed our lead character’s dialogue sessions.
Sporadically over the last few weeks, we have had the amazing Kayla record her lines for the film. Even though she first performed them over two years ago, she still manged to nail every line. We are not just proud, but very lucky to have such a capable little artist working with us on this project. DSC_0565[462]
From here on, we are hopeful that we finally have this project back on track after a long period of hibernation. Over the journey, we have some very talented and all-round great people contribute to this film. Such as Rebecca Dorothy Valastro, Jennifer Angsiting, Vincent Kos and Davis Angsiting.
We still have one small, but significant, role to fill, but we hope to announce that very soon.

As for now, please continue with your support and we will do everything we can to bring you further updates in the not-too-distant future.

Cheers and thank you!

My Imaginary Friend – Filming continues.

We’ve finally begun filming the final scene of our short film ‘My Imaginary Friend’.
Today we were lucky enough to have the lovely Rebecca Valastro join us once again, along with the wonderful Vincent Kos.
As usual, Kayla has had more than her share of work cut out for her, but she managed to get through the busy day. All twenty shots as a matter of fact!
It’s taken a tremendous amount of work to get to this point, but it’s been a fulfilling journey throughout.
Even as this phase nears completion, it’s not time for the campaign just yet.
There’s still the small task of animating the whole thing.
More on this soon, so stay tuned!MIFHOSP

We had a great time yesterday filming another scene for our short film, ‘My Imaginary Friend’. Huge praise to Kayla for a long but very productive day.
There’s still a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, but it’s one more step in the right direction.

With production really starting to happen on our animated short ‘My Imaginary Friend’, one major consideration has been at what frame rate we will be animating it at.
Working out the balance between the physical workload and a pleasing motion of playback is a delicate choice, but this video I came across on YouTube really explains the subtleties well.

Rough assembly of yesterdays footage of the first scene from our short ‘My Imaginary Friend’. Barely scratching the surface of what we have ahead of us, but things are looking good so far…

UPDATE: 13/8/15
Huge thank you to all that applied, but we have since filled the position.

‘My Imaginary Friend’ is an abstract adventure film. It follows Kayla, a young girl, on her quest to find her missing friend. What starts out as an apparent hide and seek adventure quickly sees Kayla journey through numerous environments, eventually leading her to a conclusion of unexpected results.

We are looking to cast a ‘mother’ role for the project.

Please follow the StarNow link below for more details on the project.
