With production really starting to happen on our animated short ‘My Imaginary Friend’, one major consideration has been at what frame rate we will be animating it at.
Working out the balance between the physical workload and a pleasing motion of playback is a delicate choice, but this video I came across on YouTube really explains the subtleties well.

I’ve recently begun listening to podcasts from these animation aficionados.
Each episode is about an hour long and focuses mostly on one particular animated film. Interesting facts and observations are shared by the three hosts, Morgan, Chelsea and Mason.
With about 100 podcasts available, they’re sure to have covered at least a few of your favourite animated films.
Also, be sure to check out their youtube channel for the latest news, plus reviews of blurays, soundtracks, art books and other fun stuff.

Whilst researching for a short film we’re working on, I came across this very interesting website that is a great source of information on, but not limited to, Japanese animation and and the behind-the-scenes art books that often accompany them.
They have a large assortment of reviews and previews of these books that can be very helpful when looking for inspiration for your own project.
